Headline on the Thursday before mid term elections, "Unemployment Claims Drop Sharply". Something sounds fishy, and the MSM is at it again. Also, unless I am mistaken the weekly report typically reports the adjustment to last weeks figures. There is no such mention in the AP report, they must have went up. Please define sharply, is 4.6% "sharply". No mention of 4.6% just the word sharply.
If I were a betting man, next Thursday the numbers will pop back up.
By the way, these are seasonally adjusted numbers. The real numbers show claims actually increased this week. No mention of that in the AP story. Go to http://www.dol.gov/opa/media/press/eta/ui/eta20101479.htm to see the DOL press release.
